Training on Generative AI and Agent Framework across Use Cases to build specialized assistants for research and teaching.
Objectives
- To provide an understanding of Agentic AI concepts and Generative AI potential in teaching and research.
- To share techniques for designing "Personal AI Assistants" for faculty and students.
- To provide hands-on training in Prompt Engineering and Workflow Automation.
- To encourage practical experimentation with Agentic AI in research and education tasks.
Rationale
With support from CMU's Fundamental Fund 68, the Center of Excellence initiated this "Agentic AI for Educators & Researchers" project. The goal is to empower faculty and students by using Generative AI and Agentic AI to automate repetitive tasks, improve content management, and enhance research efficiency.
Agentic AI refers to creating "Personal AI Assistants" that operate semi-autonomously and understand context to fulfill goals like document summarization, research trend synthesis, and data analysis—tasks that typically demand significant time and effort from scholar.
This workshop aims to provide a space for participants to systematically learn Generative AI and Agent Frameworks through real-world use cases in teaching and research, building foundations for specialized "AI Agents" tailored to individual needs.
